Unveiling the Pico 4 Enterprise: A Commercial All-in-One VR Headset

Unveiling the Pico 4 Enterprise: A Commercial All-in-One VR Headset

Virtual reality headsets no longer feel like science fiction. These days, they are a fixture in living rooms and offices around the world. While these devices deliver a wealth of different entertainment options and gaming experiences, they are just as useful in the corporate world.

Enterprising businesses looking to tackle productivity and creativity from a whole different perspective have long been the target of Pico, a relative unknown in the virtual reality space. While Meta, Apple, and others aim to take consumers’ entertainment dollars, Pico is primed to be the go-to source for enterprise-level VR headsets. With the release of the Pico 4 Enterprise, this niche company has made inroads within an extremely competitive marketplace.

About Pico Interactive

Founded in 2015, Pico Interactive set out to become a name in the VR space by focusing on enterprise-level hardware. With so many tech titans battling it out in the consumer electronics industry, Pico Interactive founder Henry Zhou felt that the business customer was lacking their own enterprise VR headset. TikTok owner ByteDance felt the same way and acquired Pico Interactive in 2021 to add to a growing suite of VR-centric software and game design studios.

What is the Pico 4 Enterprise?

While Pico primarily focuses on business customers, the launch of the Pico 4 VR headset proves that they can win the battle in the living room as well as the boardroom. A direct competitor to the Meta Quest 2, the Pico 4 was loaded with bleeding-edge VR technology. A lot of the same hardware that powers the Pico 4 can be found within the Pico 4 Enterprise, along with some slight improvements in terms of useability and productivity.

Pico 4E Review

There’s a lot to say about Pico’s answer to the Meta Quest Pro, but it’s also important to remember that not everyone is so lucky to be able to try out the device. Pico’s products are only available in Europe and select Asian markets. North American consumers who are eager for an alternative to the Oculus Quest 2 or Vive Focus 3 may need to look elsewhere. Still, it's worth getting a glimpse at the details — so we've highlighted all the essentials below:

Release Date

Preorders for the Pico 4 Enterprise were open in November 2022 — and the device hit online store shelves a month later. Once it was unveiled to the global public in October of that same year, an Apple-esque trajectory took over: from announcement to release in just a few short months.

Pricing

Only one version of the Pico 4 Enterprise is currently available, allowing for no confusion when it comes to multiple SKUs at different price points. The Pico 4 Enterprise can be purchased at retailers or directly from Pico for €899.

Specs

The difference between VR supremacy and bargain bin flops can sometimes be as little as one or two specs that capture the imagination of consumers. The Pico 4 Enterprise is loaded with a laundry list of impressive features, as seen below:

Improved Hardware

With multiple users sticking their faces inside a Pico 4 Enterprise daily, it was crucial for the company to prioritize easy-to-clean, antibacterial surfaces. Any surface that comes into contact with the user’s face is made of materials that are simple to keep clean and free of germs. A few other notable hardware improvements over older Pico models include more sensors for eye tracking and face tracking, as well as a sleek, slightly golden front faceplate.

As for the nuts and bolts that bring seamless VR experiences to life, the Pico 4 Enterprise features several enhancements not found in earlier Pico products. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor that creates a 105-degree field of view — and boasts 2160 x 2160 resolution per eye — the device is a pixel-producing powerhouse.

Battery life receives a boost from the 5300 mAh battery, which will keep users connected for several hours. This experience should be plenty comfortable, due to the fully adjustable head strap that ensures an always-immersive experience, as well as the pancake lenses, which drastically cut down on the standalone device’s weight.

Enterprise-Focused Features

Pico's team understands that updating and integrating dozens or even hundreds of individual headsets would be a daunting challenge for any business. The Pico Business Suite operating system allows companies to fully customize the Pico 4 Enterprise experience.

Content Ecosystem

While Pico’s VR headsets have great refresh rates, hand tracking, and other sought-after VR specs, the software and content ecosystem could definitely use some work. This is somewhat understandable; it's no doubt challenging to launch an entire app store from scratch and have it packed with the same number of useful apps found on an Android-based VR headset or a Meta Quest 2 in just a few short years. Thankfully, Pico is committed to supporting its devices and storefronts for the long haul.

Potential Integration

Consumers who only use VR for gaming or media consumption may be surprised to learn how many different industries utilize VR headsets. From architecture and interior design to tourism and even retail, there really is no limit to the possibilities of VR in the workplace.

Continued Support

It’s natural to wonder if Pico could end up like so many other ambitious devices, receiving updates and support until new sales dwindle and consumer interest wanes. Parent company ByteDance isn’t about to let this happen if past performance is any indication. The company still provides support for older devices such as the Pico Neo 3 Pro. Meanwhile, a billion-dollar investment in VR should produce greater confidence. ByteDance even continues to launch new hardware, with the Pico 4 Pro the next in line of succession after the Pro 4 Enterprise.

What is the Difference Between the Pico 4 and Pico 4E?

Several improvements set the Pico 4 Enterprise apart from its sibling, the Pico 4. Hand-tracking and eye-tracking cameras can only be found in the Enterprise edition. The Enterprise boasts 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory, whereas the Pico 4’s memory is a step behind at LPDDR4.

The biggest and most obvious difference between the two devices? Price, as the Pico 4 checks in at €499 for the equivalent 256GB model — much lower than every HTC Vive product, not to mention all the cheaper alternatives from Meta.

The Commercial VR/AR Landscape

With so many different industries anxious to utilize VR, Pico is in a prime position to capture market share. This is evident in the release of cutting-edge products like the Pico 4 Enterprise, which are sure to become office staples well into the next decade.

With so much riding on these headsets, businesses need to keep them protected with durable skins that can protect them from everyday wear and tear. VR products from MightySkins are a great option for achieving maximum protection while maintaining a professional look.

Implications for Businesses

Don't underestimate the power of VR in the modern business world. As an impressive collaboration and simulation tool, VR headsets offer creative solutions to problems that used to be insurmountable. This is an exciting time for professional VR, and it's clear that the Pico 4 Enterprise is leading the way.

As you expand your VR footprint, look to MightySkins for strong protection and aesthetics. We offer a variety of skins for VR devices, including options for other Pico headsets like the Pico Neo 3 and the Pico G3. Chances are, you have professional purposes in mind — so feel free to make the most of our branding opportunities.

If you're focused on devices from Meta or Oculus, you can count on protection for the Oculus 2 or the Meta Quest Pro — in the form of a custom wrap or skin.
